With more than 30 years of medical experience, Dr. Elliot Gruen practices as a general psychiatrist at St. Mary’s Hospital, located in Lewiston, Maine. He has held a variety of positions at the healthcare facility, in addition to offering consultation to colleagues at nearby clinics. Dr. Elliot Gruen currently oversees clinical treatment at the off-campus outpatient department.
Dr. Elliot Gruen earned a BS in psychology at Colby College and later studied osteopathic treatment methods at Pace University and the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he completed psychiatric rotations at Jackson Brook Hospital. Further, he fulfilled a residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. His classmates and instructors elected him to the position of chief resident, and he had the opportunity to gain additional clinical experience at nearby hospitals.
Away from his practice, Dr. Elliot Gruen enjoys spending time outdoors. He is an avid fisherman and has caught northern pike and stripers on his many excursions. Also interested in international travel, he has visited old church buildings in several countries in Europe, such as Germany and the Czech Republic.
